Markus Hörning Interview

Markus Hörning comes from eastern Germany and experienced the fall of the Berlin Wall. What he took away from it: Change requires flexibility and action. This attitude is also reflected in his approach to the energy transition. In the interview, the entrepreneur talks about his plans and shows why partnerships are so important. INN: Where do you see emonet in ten years?

MH: Quite broadly positioned in Germany. We want to bring our concept and our approach to all regions and establish many operator partnerships in the individual regions.

INN: Where do you see yourself in ten years' time?

MH: Business-wise, we will be very busy due to the expansion of our infrastructure concept. Seriously, time will then be running even faster until we phase out the combustion engine.

In my private life, my wife and I will then be parents of teenagers.

INN: What personal experiences influence your actions?

MH: On the one hand, the turnaround, which meant a complete reorientation for my parents, me and my entire environment to adapt flexibly to change. These experiences are of great benefit to us, especially at this time.

On the other hand, the fact that long-term partnerships create trust. That is the basis of our actions. That's how you get motivated and get things done. 

And of course the pandemic: It showed us that ultimately we are all in the same boat, and that's how we should treat each other.

INN: What was the best decision you made in your professional career?

The leap into self-employment. I really enjoy my work and have a lot of successes!

INN: What do you enjoy most about your job?

MH: That I can develop freely and play to my strengths. That I'm not just doing a "job".

INN: What advice do you have for other entrepreneurs or founders?

MH: I tend to hold back on giving advice. Maybe focus on the implementation - the doing. It's easy to get lost in theory. And dare to trust, seek partnerships.
